The earliest report about the parish school dedicated to St. Peter and Paul in the Old Town dates back to the year 1436. On January 15, 1818, this institution was transformed into the Oberrealschule St. Petri und Pauli. The current building, constructed in the Baltic neo-Gothic style, was built between 1902 and 1904 according to the design of the architect and building inspector K. Kleefeld.
