Monument to the Defenders of the Polish Post in Gdańsk

This monument was unveiled on September 1, 1979, in the Defenders of the Polish Post Square, formerly known as Heweliusz Square. It is dedicated to the memory of the defenders of the Polish Post in Gdańsk. The author of the monument's design is Wincenty Kućma. The central motif of the monument depicts a dying postal worker to whom the goddess of victory, Nike, is handing a rifle, and letters spill out of an open mailbag.
