June 5, 1999, Pope John Paul II celebrated Mass at the Hippodrome Sopot at the altar, designed by renowned designer Marian Kolodziej. The altar consisted of folk artists made sculptures by crosses, saints and shrines. One of them, 'Trinity' by Paul Rybczynski, then set in a place where the pope rode in the hippodrome. It presents God supportive cross on which Jesus Christ suffered. At the foot of the cross on a stone inscribed with the words: There is no solidarity without love. Sopot is a place called the Pope's garden.
